Auto manufacturers do a darn good job of putting cars, trucks and SUVs together for auto owners in Wonder Lake and beyond but there are still occasional problems you should be aware of. Things come up and, when they do, auto manufacturers will issue recalls so they can address whatever problem has arisen. It pays to watch for recalls to keep your vehicle safe and reliable. |
No one in Wonder Lake does a better job of maintaining their car, truck or SUV. You have every right to expect reliability from your vehicle. You’ve left nothing to chance. And yet, you may have a ticking time bomb on wheels.
Auto manufacturers do an incredible job of designing, building and testing the vehicles they sell, such as the car, truck or SUV in your Wonder Lake driveway. But problems still slip through.
Recent recalls that have been in the news include:
- 1.3 million Ford F-150 trucks recalled for dangerous issue with downshifting
- 235,000 Genesis, Kia vehicles recalled because of a fire risk
- More than 65,000 Ram trucks recalled because the instrument panel display fails
- 440,000 Honda Odyssey minivans were recalled for an airbag issue
- 294,000 Hyundai, Genesis vehicles were recalled because of an issue with seatbelts
- 33,000 Corvettes were recalled for an issue with the turn signals
- And more …
When a design or production flaw ‘slips through’ it means that drivers on the road are traveling with that flaw. Chances are, they have no idea. Auto repair shops will often begin to recognize symptoms of a problem before the original manufacturer catches on. But it can still take a while before a problem rises to the surface.
Even though auto repair shops may see signs that there is a potential problem may, it will take a while before the full impact of the problem is recognized. This is why it’s a good idea to stay on top of potential problems with your vehicle.
Check the recall sheets
Manufacturers will often have your contact information and will alert you if there is a recall involving your car, truck or SUV. Keep an eye out for these (but also be aware that scammers may fish for victims with similar messages – contact the dealership where you purchased the vehicle, or the manufacturer directly, if you receive a notice of a recall).
There are Websites online where you can go to check on possible recalls. Some of these look like official state government sites but, if you read the fine print, you’ll find there is no affiliation at all. Still, for a price, they’ll allow you to sign up to receive notifications of recalls related to your vehicle.
On the other hand, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has a site called Recalls.gov. You can safely subscribe to that site.
You can also check with a trusted auto repair shop. These are people who generally do a pretty good job of staying on top of such things. At least, they’ll have access to check on potential recalls for you.
Staying on top of recalls is another way to give you peace of mind when you pull out of your Wonder Lake driveway.
